HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
This AAS degree program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Helath Informatics and Information Management Education (www.cahiim.org) and prepares students for employment in maintaining and processing health information in hospitals, nursing facilities, ambulatory care clinics and health insurance agencies.

Nursing assistants care for patients in hospitals, long-term care facilities, hospice, and in the home. This course introduces students to this fulfilling career, covering basic nursing assistant skills, patient and family relationships, health care teams and legal issues. CPR and HIV/AIDS training is included in this course.

ORTHOTIC/PROSTHETIC TECHNICIAN
Orthotics and Prosthetics is the design and fabrication of braces and artificial limbs and is one of today's rapidly growing health-related professions. Advancing materials technology and an increasing demand for orthotic-prosthetic services has led to an increase in the amount of technical support needed. There are many opportunities for the students completing a formal training program in orthotics and prosthetics.

MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
One of the most rewarding is the medical laboratory technology (MLT) field. As members of the medical team, technicians work side by side with medical technologists and pathologists and have relatively less contact with patients. MLTs perform a great variety of scientific laboratory procedures, utilizing automated computerized instrumentation, all of which aid in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease.

HEALTH AND FITNESS TECHNICIAN
his program is designed for students looking toward a career in the health/fitness industry. Students who complete the two-year program and receive an associate in applied science degree (AAS) are prepared for entry level positions. Students interested in transferring to a four-year institution can utilize an articulation agreement with Eastern Washington University.

GERONTOLOGY PARAPROFESSIONAL
The Gerontology program examines mental, emotional, physical and social changes, which confront older adults. Gerontology is distinct from geriatrics, a medical specialty that explores health and disease in elders. Some of the current career fields may include program management, administration, recreation services, residential care, business and education fields and human service programs related to life after sixty.

DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHY
Diagnostic Medical Sonography is an allied Health Profession where non-physician professionals perform a diagnostic procedure using high frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to produce dynamic visual images of organs, tissues, or blood flow inside the body. Sonography is used to examine many parts of the body: abdomen, breasts, OB/GYN, thyroid, scrotum, and blood vessels.

DENTAL ASSISTING
A one-year program designed to prepare the student for employment as a chairside assistant to the dentist and an additional year for the AAS degree.

BIOMEDICAL EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN
This program is designed to prepare students for employment in the specialized field of biomedical electronics in a hospital or in the medical electronics industry. A balanced study of peripheral subjects that make the biomedical equipment technician unique also is included. These subjects include fundamentals of physics, chemistry, physiology, medical terminology, hospital ethics and hospital safety.
