Our career-focused education programs – from apprenticeships to diplomas, degrees to post-graduate certificates, continuing education and part-time studies – all reflect Ontario’s changing job market and are designed to help our students build the skills and knowledge they need for career and life success.
Here at Conestoga, we are committed to meeting the needs of students, industry and the communities we serve by:
  • providing innovative, career-focused education and training programs through the creative use of advanced teaching methods, technological support, services and research
  • supporting local businesses and the community in their efforts to innovate, improve their products and processes, and become more competitive through applied research initiatives that provide solutions to real-world challenges.
Over the past several years, Conestoga has engaged in the largest expansion in our history, completing a number of major infrastructure projects that provide our students with some of Canada’s most innovative and advanced applied learning environments.
In Spring 2014, we concluded a Strategic Mandate Agreement with the Government of Ontario that positions Conestoga to become a provincial leader in college-based degree programming and a pre-eminent centre for education in engineering, trades, business and community services, with increased capacity across a comprehensive range of programming and applied research initiatives to better meet the needs of our students and the growing communities we serve.
As our community continues to develop and grow, we too must expand to ensure an adequate supply of effective and productive graduates to meet market demands for a wide range of industry and social services.

Having a Roommate

Maintaining a positive living arrangement

  • Many residents come to college with a positive outlook towards having a roommate. Usually, this is true for most people in residence but it's important to remember that stress levels have a tendency to increase during certain times of the year (i.e. exams) which can cause patience to thin.
It is important to be aware and appreciate these stressful times as you and your roommate move through the academic year together. By communicating your expectations early on, you can solve problems before they arise and development mutual understanding and trust.

Things to remember:

    • Keep communication lines open
    • Be willing to compromise
    • Give your roommate the respect, consideration, and understanding you expect in return
    • Discuss problems as they arise with your roommate, not with other residents
    • If things change, be sure to let your roommate know. It is normal for your ideas, feelings, or even habits to change - situations change too.
    • Ask your RA for help if you need it.

Discussion Points

  • In order to avoid any misunderstandings, you and your roommate should discuss the following things:
    • Food/Shopping: Will you be sharing food? If so, how will the shopping be divided?
    • Cleanliness: Discuss how clean you expect the common areas to be.
    • Privacy: What will the arrangement be to ensure privacy?
    • Sharing Personal Items: Discuss what items in the common area require the other person's permission to use.
    • Noise/Study Times: When are guests allowed to come over? How frequently do you plan to study in your room or common area?
    • Overnight Guests: How frequently do you plan to host overnight guests? How much notice should either person give?
    • Smoking/Drinking/Drugs: How will each other's smoking or drinking habits going to affect the other person? There is a strict no smoking or drug-use policy in residence.
    • Parties/Entertainment: Do your preferences for parties and entertainment match? If not, you should discuss a reasonable compromis

Community Living Standards

    • The residence community is a place that promotes a safe and peaceful environment that supports the academic success of residents as well as their personal and social development. We aim to ensure that it is inclusive, responsible and respectful.
The Residence Community Living Standards have been created in consultation with students and staff at colleges and universities across Canada to ensure the residence environment achieves this goal.
